2011 is not starting out well for odd couple Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift, at least not in the relationship department. A source told PEOPLE magazine, "They're over...It ended last month." This news came as no surprise to many who doubted that their whirl-wind romance would last long anyway. Let's take a look at how it all began and how it has played out over the last few months.
In the Beginning
Rumors first surfaced about the country songstress and her supposed buff guy beau when they were seen hanging out backstage at Saturday Night Live back in October, 2010. They were both there to support mutual friend, Emma Stone, who was hosting that episode. Soon after that, they had a lunch date in Brooklyn. Stone tagged along on this date as well. Shortly after the two were spotted in NY, Swift sat down on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and coyly danced around questions about her and Jake.
Coffee and Ice Cream Across the World
In the next few months the duo was spotted grabbing coffee and sundaes across the country and globe. A source said that Swift and Gyllenhaal were "happy" and "friendly". What appeared to be a fling got a little more serious when Gyllenhaal spent a rumored $150,000 to bring Taylor to England while he promoted his movie Love and Other Drugs. Swift was also reported to have spent Thanksgiving with Gyllenhaal's family including his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband Peter Sarsgaard.
Swift and Gyllenhaal Over
Now, as said earlier, the two are apparently done with and have been for a while. Many people expected this as Taylor and Jake spent the holidays and their birthdays away from each other. The relationship was never really confirmed by Gyllenhaal or Swift. In fact Swift said, "I write in great detail about my personal life, but I don't talk about it."
Both parties have both had Hollywood romances played out in the tabloids before. Remember Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon? And who could forget about Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner? They lives through those tough times and no doubt they will make it through this too!
Now the only question left to be answered is will Taylor write another hit song about this romance gone wrong? Poor Jake. I'm sure he's asking himself why his name has to rhyme with words like snake and heart break.
